Location
Whanganui, which is the heart of the Whanganui District, is centrally located on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand. The city is within a three-hour drive from Wellington, Taupo and New Plymouth and only six hours from Auckland.

Climate
Due to its unique physical location, Whanganui is sheltered from the worst weather conditions and has one of the most temperate climates in the world. Summers are warm and dry with temperatures ranging between 18 to 30° and winters are mild with temperatures ranging between 4 to 14°.

Accommodation
Whanganui has some of the lowest average house prices in New Zealand, offering superior yet affordable housing. There are all types of property options including modern homes, traditional villas, city apartments, beach properties and rural farmlets, both to rent and buy. Living close to the hospital is not necessary as there is little traffic and there is ample free parking at the hospital.

There are daily flights to Auckland and Wellington from the Whanganui Airport and an International Airport is located in Palmerston North, one hour from Whanganui.
