Our Approach
Welcome to the Whanganui District Health Board services. As a former nurse and matron at both Whanganui and Wellington Hospitals, I firmly believe that patient care is everyone’s responsibility, and that courtesy, sensitivity and respect cost nothing and achieve a lot.

As Chief Executive I am proud of our staff and the services we provide. I hope that with our help, you can regain your health and independence within our community.

Whanganui District Health Board’s quality focus is to deliver:

When you come to us for care, you are putting your faith in us to deliver effective health care in a safe, efficient manner, giving you due respect as individuals. It is important we continue to sustain that faith in us through good practice.

Whanganui District Health Board has been accredited by the New Zealand Council on Healthcare Standards since 1996 and is certified to operate as a hospital by the Ministry of Health. 

While accreditation and certification surveys are conducted every three years we consider that quality is an integral part of everyone’s work and is not a stand-alone activity.

We continue to strive to do things better, taking responsibility for our own actions, respecting other people’s views and values and being professional in our communications, our delivery of care and our sensitivity to patient’s needs.
