Volunteer Services
Volunteers provide a key supporting role within the Whanganui hospital and in the community.

The Pink Ladies

The Pink Ladies are voluntary workers who can be identified by their Pink Uniforms.  They are available to help with activities not done by nurses. Services available include:

Flower Arrangement
Flowers are not permitted in Critical Care Unit (CCU) or Emergency Department (ED), but are most welcome in all other areas of the hospital. The Pink Ladies can organise a vase and arrange your flowers.

Shopping
If there are items that you require from the shop the Pink Ladies can arrange collection of these items.

Letter Writing
The Pink Ladies are available to read any letters you have received, help you write a letter and also post the letter for you.

Hair Dressing
Hair dressing is provided by the Pink Ladies and hair cutting by a professional hairdresser on Tuesday mornings. Having your hair washed while you are in hospital can make you feel much better, so please take advantage of this service if you cannot wash your hair yourself.

Personal Washing
If you require assistance with personal washing, particularly for out of town patients, the Pink Ladies can assist.

Please ask a staff member if you require any volunteer services and they will contact the Pink Ladies.

Becoming a Volunteer

If you wish to become a hospital volunteer please contact Reception and leave your name and contact details.
