The Board is responsible for overseeing the governance of Whanganui District Health Board, including financial performance, planning, funding and service delivery.

The Board meets every six weeks on a Friday from 1.00pm to 4.00pm. The meetings are held in the Board Room located on the fourth floor of the Wanganui Hospital.

Meetings of the Board and its three statutory committees are open to the public.
