Whanganui Hospital has one Ecumenical Chaplain and one Roman Catholic Chaplain. Chaplains visit the wards regularly and are willing to listen and help you. They will mediate and council on spiritual concerns and offer prayer, spiritual guidance and the sacraments
The Ecumenical Chaplain is available regardless of a patient’s religious affiliation, or absence of affiliation. The Ecumenical Chaplain or his locum are on call 24 hours. If the Catholic Chaplain is unavailable, Catholic parish priests may be called.
The Chapel/Whare Karakia is available to you and your family/whanau at any time, whether you are in the habit of Church attendance or not. Services are held at 10am each Sunday. If you would like to attend please tell your nurse early on Sunday morning. A hearing aid induction loop area is included in the Chapel.
The Chapel is located on the first floor of the main Hospital building and is open 24 hours a day.
