Justice of Peace or JPs are members of the community appointed by the Governor General. JPs are "people of good standing in the community which is not to be identified with material prosperity, who are respected as persons of good sense, character and integrity".
Their work is an unpaid service not connected with their employment.
Ministerial Duties carried out by a Justice of the Peace comprise principally:

Witnessing signatures

Certifying documents

The witnessing of Land Transfer and other documents

The taking of declarations, affidavits or affirmations
