The Minister of Health, Tony Ryall, has today appointed the board chair, deputy chair and four board members for the Whanganui District Health Board.

Kate Joblin has been reappointed the board chair with Phil Sunderland as the deputy chair.

Whanganui DHB board chair Kate Joblin said she feels privileged to be continuing to lead the board.

“I have a long standing commitment to our district health board and am delighted that I have retained the Minister’s confidence and been reappointed as board chair” said Mrs Joblin.

Along with Phil Sunderland, David Warburton and Nancy Tuaine have been reappointed to the board. The Minister’s fourth appointment is Richard Orzecki, who is currently a member of MidCentral DHB’s Hospital Advisory Committee.

“All these appointees come with significant expertise and experience and I know will assist us to be a well functioning board” Mrs Joblin said.

Kate Joblin, Phil Sunderland and Richard Orzecki are also appointees to the MidCentral board. Phil Sunderland as the board chair and Kate Joblin to be appointed as the deputy chair.

“I see this further integration of governance as a really big step forward in our increasing collaboration” said Mrs Joblin.

The last Whanganui DHB board had two cross appointments from MidCentral DHB.

“Cross-appointments make absolute sense when we expect many areas of our organisation, including front line clinicians, allied health, and management to all be working with our neighbours.”

“Continued safe and accessible services for our community depend on our working better and more closely with other DHBs, in particular with MidCentral.”
