Whanganui District Health Board continues to make good progress towards meeting the National Health Targets, with the end of year results released today by the Minister of Health.
Whanganui District Health Board Chief Executive Julie Patterson is pleased with the results, which has seen significant improvement in elective surgery, immunisation and diabetes and cardiovascular services.
“Our latest results reflect our collective effort with Primary Care Providers and the hard work and commitment that our staff have made since the health targets started in July 2009. Looking back to our quarter one results, I am pleased by how much progress we have made.”
“Although the results show a strong improvement, we have not met two of the targets in this last quarter. As we move into the 2010/11 year, we will remain committed to strengthening our services and working towards achieving all six health targets.”
“Of particular concern is the smoking target. Whilst we have shown significant improvement from quarter one to quarter four, we have not matched sector improvement in the last quarter. We will work with the Ministry of Health target champions to replicate the success of other DHB’s to insure we achieve better results in the year ahead.”
The six national health targets are continuing for the 2010/2011 year. The results will be reported to the public each quarter.
