Primary and Community Services to Continue in Taihape
back

The full range of primary and community based health services in Taihape are continuing.

Whanganui DHB chief executive Julie Patterson said the district health board is working with alternative providers to ensure the continuation of primary and community based health services in Taihape.

“Although the provider of these services is changing, the community should notice very little difference in the way they access services and the care they receive” said Mrs Patterson.

The services that are continuing in Taihape include:
  • Day services for older people
  • Home based support services
  • Primary maternity
  • General Practice and other primary care services
  • Radiology
  • Specialist outpatient clinics
  • Meals on wheels
  • District nursing
  • Palliative care
  • Oral health
  • Community pharmacy
  • Mobile surgical bus
  • Social work
  • Occupational therapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Dietitian clinic

“This is an opportunity for the Whanganui Regional Primary Health Organisation (WRPHO) and other community providers to take a broader role in the delivery of responsive primary and community services” said Mrs Patterson.
