Whanganui DHB First to Receive Approval
back

Whanganui District Health Board is the first in New Zealand to receive confirmation that their 2010/2011 District Annual Plan (DAP) has been approved by Health Minister Tony Ryall.

Of the 20 DHB’s in New Zealand, only two others have since received approval.

The plan outlines the intentions of Whanganui District Health Board for the 2010/11 year which started on 1 July 2010. It details services, financial forecasts, health targets and priorities.

Whanganui DHB Chief Executive Julie Patterson considers the Minister’s approval shows strong support for our district and for the direction being followed by the Board and management.

“We are delighted that our plan, which gives priority to patient services, while safely reducing our spending, was the first to receive the Minister’s approval.”

Mrs Patterson cautioned that the approval marks the start of what is a tough plan for the new financial year.

“Over this coming year we hope that all the community will be aware of is that the experience of using the health services is continuing to improve.  However, within the District Health Board things will be changing as we work toward increasing productivity”.
