Wozzo, Owner/Operator of Steelmig the manufacturer for Trailer King, was approached by Barbara Dewson, Professional Lead, Community Oral Health Service for help with a unique problem. Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Whanganui needed to put a generator on a trailer to power their mobile dental units when used off campus. After discussing the needs of the mobile units Wozzo gave the terrible news that what he was being asked to supply, wasn't going to do the job - it wouldn't supply enough power.
And so begun the task of supplying a custom-made solution for a mobile unit that could power two dental chairs for a whole weekend.
As is usually the case when working with local people, on solutions for local people, Wozzo went all in - suggesting adding fresh water and waste tanks be added to the trailer as well. His ingenuity and commitment to solving a problem facing dental units across the country - who previously have been mobile but not self-sufficient - has resulted in creating a one of a kind trailer that utlises a combination of power generation methods to enable full and true mobility to dental units. Our mobile team can now travel around our district and rely on their own power to 'power up' their days spent at kohanga reo, kura, schools and open days.
It's a true game changer for how our dental units do business and a great asset for our community, that no longer relies on their resources!
Custom solutions included on the custom trailer include:
“The project was challenging to solve the many different problems presented. The main challenge we had to overcome was we needed a power source when the generator wasn’t running to run the lights and alarms. We solved that problem by installing a large solar panel offering an innovative and industry leading solution to HNZ dental unit." Wozzo.
"The project team and dental unit we were working with made the process easier and were great to work with." Wozzo.
Our dental team is thrilled with the results and can’t say enough good things about Wozzo, who truly has gone above and beyond. It worked well on its first outing and the team is excited to be taking it out into our district soon.
Thanks Wozzo, local people helping us get health care out to our communities is one of the best things about our mahi in Whanganui!
