Ko te manu e kai ana i te miro nōna te ngāhere. Ko te manu e kai ana i te mātauranga, nōna te ao.

Applications are open for the Health Workforce New Zealand Hauora Māori Training Fund and Māori Support Fund.

The Hauora Māori Training Fund supports people who work in the unregulated health and disability workforce to complete certificate, diploma and graduate diploma study at levels 3 - 6.

The Māori Support Fund is also available to support mentoring, cultural supervision and cultural development activities while studying.

Kylee Osborne, Kaitakitaki - Māori Workforce Development - Te Hau Ranga Ora, says the purpose of the funding is to provide access and opportunity for the non-regulated health and disability workforce.

Applicants must be either working, volunteering or intending to work in the health sector and contribute to improved health outcomes for Māori.

“Better health outcomes and equity for Māori is a key part of Whanganui District Health Board’s He Hāpori Ora Thriving Communities vision. Supporting and building a Māori workforce that meets the needs of our population is an important key in our commitment to achieving equitable health outcomes for Māori,“ Ms Osborne says.

The closing date for the Māori Support Fund is 15 February 2021. The available funding is $1200 per applicant.

The closing date for the Hauora Māori Training Fund is 15 November 2021. The available funding is $5995 per applicant.
