Senior doctors and dentists at Health NZ public hospitals and health services plan to strike for 48 hours on Tuesday 23 September and Wednesday 24 September. Emergency departments will be open for emergencies only. GPs, after-hours and urgent care clinics, and other community health providers are not affected by the strike and will continue to operate as normal.

Services we provide
Audiology is part of Health New Zealand South Canterbury's Allied Health Service. Audiology services in South Canterbury include:
- neonatal (newborn) assessment
- rehabilitation of pēpi (babies) referred from the Universal Newborn Hearing Screening programme
- specialised behavioural assessment of hearing in tamariki under 4 years
- monitoring of grommets for ENT patients
- diagnostic (site of lesion) assessment of adults and older tamariki
- hearing aid fitting for infants, children and adults
- monitoring of hearing levels for oncology (cancer) patients
- combined clinics with the Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) Department, both in Timaru and at Ashburton Hospital.
