About GP2GP
GP2GP is used to securely transfer a patient’s electronic health record from one general practice to another. It was developed to reduce:
- potential loss of clinical information when patients change general practice
- the administrative burden of transferring files.
Information that can be transferred includes:
- clinical notes
- problem lists
- medications
- allergies
- lab results
- discharge letters
- recall tasks
- limited demographic information.
Accounting and appointment information is not included in the transfer.
Several hundred thousand records are transferred each year using GP2GP.
