Ngā Tātai Ihorangi logo
To illustrate the whakapapa and meaning of Ngā Tātai Ihorangi, a local artist and carver gifted to Community, Family and Rural Health the logo seen below. While descriptions are provided for people, it’s equally important that people take time to look at the art and describe to themselves what they see and feel.
The intention is that the logo is utilised throughout the Directorate and in particular those programmes that are focused on the 0-5 year old continuum.
‘You are women’ was written and performed by Taniora Tauariki and Gibson and was supported by the Hātea Kapa Haka group, northland midwives and health providers involved in the project, all delivering a wonderful music video that sends the message that giving new life is the most important role women and their whānau will do.
The music video follows a young couple, Kaylah and Reece Munday, going through important milestones during their pregnancy to visually tell the story and make it more relatable to the audience. When cast and crew turned up for the final day’s filming they learnt that Kaylah and Reece’s baby Ngāwai Madisyn Blair Bermingham and been born that very morning.
Further collaboration between Jacqui Westren, Koha Aperahama and Rachael Hetaraka – Gotz came the creation of Nga Tatai Ihorangi as a framework for child health services. Workshops are being run to support the implementation of this including a tool kit.
