LabPLUS is the largest referral hospital laboratory in Aotearoa New Zealand. We are part of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora and are based in Auckland.

Susceptibility data for aerobic Gram positive and Gram negative organisms

This is 2025 antibiotic susceptibility data for aerobic Gram positive and Gram negative organisms, isolated from clinical specimens sent to the microbiology department of LabPLUS.

The report includes single patient isolates from Te Toka Tumai Auckland:

  • Auckland City Hospital
  • Starship Children's Hospital
  • Greenlane Clinical Centre
  • referred isolates from other hospitals in the Auckland region.

Specimens include:

  • sterile sites specimens such as blood cultures, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and aspirates
  • non-sterile site specimens such as respiratory specimens, urine and wound swabs.

However, the data on Streptococcus pneumoniae are only shown for blood cultures and CSF isolates.

The organisms included in the data are commonly implicated in community and nosocomial acquired infections in our setting. The antibiotics tested and reported for each organism, follow recommendations, and standards and methods outlined by European Commitee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST).

Susceptibility data for anaerobic Gram positive and Gram negative organisms

This is the 2011 anaerobic bacteria susceptibility patterns data for Gram positive and Gram negative anaerobic organisms.

The organisms were isolated over the last 8 years from clinical specimens from:

  • Auckland City Hospital
  • Starship Children's Hospital
  • referred isolates from other New Zealand hospitals.

This data has been presented at Australian Society for Antimicrobials 13th Annual Scientific Meeting, Antimicrobials 2012, February 23 to 25, 2012, Brisbane, Australia.

Susceptibility data for yeast and mould isolates

This is 2001 to 2019 antifungal susceptibility data derived from local and referred clinical isolates from other New Zealand laboratories. Isolates recovered from wide range of clinical specimens.
