The AT&R unit is a 35-bed ward, providing rehabilitation for 25 of these beds. The unit is staffed by nurses, healthcare assistants, doctors and a multidisciplinary team of:
- physiotherapists
- occupational therapists
- dietitians
- social workers
- speech-language therapists
- pharmacists
- Stroke Clinical Nurse Specialist
- Kaitakawaenga
- Chaplains.
The service aims to empower patients to lead fulfilling lives, enhance resilience and independence, and contribute to the overall health and prosperity of whānau and community.
The service works together with the patient and whānau from admission to discharge to provide high-quality care. Rehabilitation and exercise programmes are designed to promote mobility, strength, functional gains and overall wellness — tailored to meet individual needs and goals.
