Patient safety is our priority. Our hospitals and emergency departments will remain open. Continue to attend all appointments on the day of the strike unless we have contacted you to reschedule.
The Fracture Liaison Service offers bone health and lifestyle advice to help prevent you having further fractures. Bone density scans and bone strengthening medicines are sometimes recommended.
We may be able to help if:
you are over the age of 50
you live in Hawke's Bay
you have had a low-trauma accident, such as a simple trip or fall
the accident has caused a bone fracture, excluding the skull, hands or feet.
Our service follows guidelines set by Osteoporosis New Zealand with clinical supervision by specialist doctors in rheumatology, endocrinology and older people's health.
