Welcome to Te Whatu Ora Whanganui's website. We are pleased to introduce you to our services, our organisation and our community.

If you are not able to find the information you are seeking, please make an enquiry via the Site Feedback link at the base of each webpage.

Our primary aim is to ensure people living in our community get the services they need to help them to be as healthy and independent as possible.

To achieve this, Te Whatu Ora Whanganui ensures that patients and their whānau/families are a central focus for all that we do. We provide services which promote good health and wellness, and services that prevent illness and injury.

We know the services funded and/or provided by Te Whatu Ora Whanganui (such as maternity, general practice, dental, mental health and disability support services, as well as the less specialised hospital services) are the services our residents use most frequently. What’s important is that these services are responsive and effective, and as close as possible to the community.

We also know that as people get older, or experience serious illness or injury, they are likely to need services provided at home. At times a person’s needs are too great to be managed in their home and they need full time care. Te Whatu Ora Whanganui wants these home and residential care services to be easily accessible to those who need them.

Because we are a small district, Whanganui residents are required to travel for more highly specialised services such as cardiac and neurosurgical services. Fortunately, the need for this level of care is, for most people, infrequent.

Like all Whanganui providers, we continually strive to do things better. We take responsibility for the services we provide. If we fail to provide good service, we will acknowledge this and do our best to remedy the situation. We trust that, whether you are a patient or a family member you will find us sensitive to your needs and respectful of your views and values, and cultural practices and beliefs. If you are a staff member we hope you will find your time at Te Whatu Ora Whanganui challenging and enjoyable.
