Free & confidential health services for youth

The Whanganui region has public health nurses who visit schools to assist in improving the health and wellness of our youth.

 

Public health nurses currently visit Wanganui Girls’ College, Wanganui City College, Wanganui High School, Cullinane College, Rangitikei College (Marton), Turakina Maori Girls’ College (Marton), Taihape College (Taihape), Ruapehu College (Ohakune), YMCA Grey Street and YMCA Alternate Education in Whanganui East. There are also nurses who visit Wanganui Intermediate and Rutherford Junior High schools.


Youth across the region can see our public health nurses free of charge and confidentially for help and advice regarding:

  • vision or hearing concerns
  • skin conditions and managing chronic illnesses
  • contraception or sexual/personal health issues
  • health information
  • support
  • smoking cessation
  • referrals to other services and agencies.
