Health workers got a treat when Whanganui MP Steph Lewis turned up for her second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Lewis – who got her second shot of the Pfizer vaccine on Friday – delivered gift baskets of tasty nibbles for the team at Te Rito, the vaccination centre in Victoria Avenue.
“I wanted to say thank you to the staff who are doing such a great job and putting in long hours with big workloads,” the MP said.
“It is important to acknowledge the tremendous effort our frontline health workers have put in.”
Lewis, who also took baskets of treats to staff at the Health Bus stationed in the SuperValue car park in Gonville and those at the COVID-19 testing centre at Whanganui Hospital, said she hoped it would be a morale booster as the vaccination team approaches Super Saturday.
“Getting vaccinated is even more important now that the Delta variant has escaped from Auckland.
“I know there are those who are hesitant about the vaccine, and I urge those who have been vaccinated and found how easy it is to have a conversation them and find out what their concerns are.”
