While Whanganui Hospital is open 24/7 over the Christmas and New Year period, certain areas will be closed during the break.

Closures for the patient scheduling and outpatients department are:

• Wednesday 25 December 2019 (Christmas Day) – Closed
• Thursday 26 (Boxing Day) and Friday 27 December 2019 – Closed
• Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 December 2019 – Open (8am to 4.30pm)
• Wednesday 1 January (New Years Day), Thursday 2 January and Friday 3 January 2020 – Closed

Normal hours of 8am to 4.30pm will resume on Monday 6 January 2020.

The free and confidential sexual health clinic, run from the hospital’s outpatients department, will close from Thursday 19 December 2019 and re-open on Monday 6 January 2020.

If you are unwell or injured during the holiday period and need medical assistance please call Healthline on 0800 611 116 for advice, or talk to your pharmacist in the first instance.

For urgent or after hours care, contact your GP for advice in the first instance or visit Whanganui Accident and Medical service, located at Whanganui Hospital. Whanganui Accident and Medical Clinic is open 8am to 9pm throughout the holiday period.

The emergency department is open 24/7 for emergencies only.
