The kind-hearted folk at Whanganui District Health Board have added a little Christmas cheer for those less fortunate.

DHB social workers Ashley Buchanan and Ariana Matoe wanted to give a helping hand to the City Mission foodbank and their call for contributions was heard across the organisation.

They arranged for various collection points around the Whanganui Hospital campus and the donations rolled in -- cans, tea, coffee, toiletries, nappies, pet food, baking products, cleaning products, spreads, fruit and numerous other grocery items.

On Monday, Ashley and Ariana were able to deliver a car chockful of groceries, and City Mission will distribute these to the needy across the community.
